Questions we get asked
No. We stream online rather than over the air, so there is no FCC licence and no application window to wait for. What you do need are music and streaming licences, and we file and maintain those in your name as part of every package.
Roughly ten by twelve feet. A spare classroom or a large office works. It needs a door that closes, a power outlet and internet. We will tell you honestly if a room will not work.
After three terms, roughly a school year. Students finish the three levels, become studio members, then apply for a recurring slot which they hold a term at a time. Members book equipment themselves and publish without an instructor approving each episode.
They keep access for life and can carry on producing and streaming their own shows through Shtello Air at no further cost. Publish something once a quarter and your slot stays yours. Go quiet for longer and the slot returns to the pool, but your access never expires.
On Shtello Air alumni channels rather than on a partner channel. Once someone is no longer a student their work sits under our standards and our name, so a partner never inherits a broadcaster they did not approve.
Shtello Air holds the show, the name, the feed and the archive, so a channel cannot be picked up and moved elsewhere. Every student keeps a permanent right to use their own episodes and clips in applications, reels and auditions, credited by name. For under-18s a parent signs that at enrolment.
Talk to us and we will work something out. We are not interested in trapping someone whose show has outgrown a student platform, and there is a route to licence or buy a show out. We would rather agree it in advance than argue about it later.
You set them, in writing, before the first session. Your clergy, principal or program director tells us what may and may not go on air and which music is acceptable, and our instructors teach to that document rather than to a general standard.
Most partners do. Youth media and arts education is a well-funded category and we write the application with you. It is not guaranteed, and we will tell you early if we think your odds are poor rather than string you along.
A computer or tablet, headphones and a quiet corner. We ship the microphone and interface as part of the fee and the student keeps them. The software we teach on is free and runs on old machines.
Very common, and the program is built for it. Every cohort rotates through five roles, so a student who will not touch a mic in week one can run the board, write the script or handle promotion, and stays in the room long enough to find their voice later.
safeguarding@shtelloair.com, monitored daily by a named member of staff, for anything involving a child's welfare. That address is on every enrolment form and in every partner agreement. For anything else, hello@shtelloair.com.
Still wondering something?
Ask us directly. We would rather tell you it will not work than sell you something that will not.
